How are these photos to put into a gallery? There is a teen gallery show at the end of June, and I need about 12 pictures to enter.
The album is titled June for the show, not because they were all taken in June.
I just would like to know if these are good to enter.
www.flickr.com/photos/p_alexandra…
I'm currently 16, and just started getting serious about photography. So I know I am not the best. I need to give them to the lady on June 18th, so I still have time to look through photos or to take more, so any helpful tips would be nice. I want my photos to look really good.
Feel free to look through my other albums to see if there are any others that may possible be good? | | I don't usually care for images of sky alone, but you have some very unique sunsets; the trouble is you are entering too many like that. I am also not fond of the fountain image because of the blown out sky. In general, I feel you have a nice base, but need to expand your subject matter. Good luck! | What are good advertising methods to reach teens? I am working on creating Gallery Underground/Open Mic Coffee Night---Last Friday of the month 7-8:30 PM @ The Park Teen Center 855 South 8th St. Lincoln NE. We are looking for entries for the Gallery, all media will be considered. Open Mic is looking for acoustic bands, slam poets, free style & more. I don't know what else to do in order to advertise to Lincoln youth. Our first show went well 41 teens attended & then for the second we only had 15 show up. I have made contact with teachers & have sent flyers to schools, stopped by coffee shops & left flyers. I've gone as far as starting to advertise on public radio. I don't remember what the hot spots for teens are these days. If any one has any ideas on how I can reach a large audience, let me know.
Thank you, | maybe you should get in touch with student organizations. aside from hand-outs or flyers, you might also want to tack some nice, artsy posters on bulletin boards. have you tried linking up with an FM radio station? maybe you can get them to announce the event.
get to know your target market-- for starters, check out this generic profile: www.magazine.org/content/files/teenprofi… | Drawing lighting on peoples skin, sweat, or reflections? I am a very talented drawer for my age (teen), in sports people. I'm good at drawing detail, but I want to know badly, how to color/draw sweat, or shiny people, or reflefctions?
sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multime…
Notice the helmet. How do you draw reflections like that?
sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multime…
Look how part of his skin is bright white, because of the lighting. Whenever I try to draw that, it just looks like white stripes, going down the sides of his arms, instead of lighting.
i don't think I need to link an example of sweat, but when I draw sweat, it looks weird.
Help would be appreciated. | A lot of that is down by shading with a lot of contrast. Like what you said, their are parts on both the helmet and the mans body that are almost light, and those are highlights.
The way I've found to make them look realistic is to create deep contrast. I'm sorry, but I can't really describe it better then that.

Paper copies can be mailed to you for an additional $2.00. | This question is to anyone who has ever started their own venue, restaurant and or bookstore? I was at a BBQ this past Saturday and a friend and I had come up with this pipe dream idea of creating a vegan/vegetarian restaurant and bookstore with a stage.
The menu would be made up of mostly vegetarian dishes, (there would be absolutely no meat, no beef, chicken or fish on the menu), but dairy would be an option. The kitchen would be split in two, and the vegan food would be prepared on the opposite side.
Please read my list of ideas below and if you could answer a few questions for me.
What do you think about my ideas so far? What were/are some issues that you have had in running your own business? How hard is it to start your own business? Do you feel like it was all worth it? Forget the cost of space, (I know it has to do with location), but what are the costs of the permits, or any other legal "mumbo-jumbo"? Obviously I have not researched this yet, and it's still just a dream. But I want to know if this all sounds doable.
Here is how I imagine it:
You walk in the door and you can already tell that this is a place where creativity thrives. The walls are plastered with paintings and photographs donated by local artists. To your left there are a number of tall shelves packed with a large variety of books. In that corner you will also find four or five large and relaxing chairs pinning an area rug to the wood floor, and beanbag chairs scattered about the area.
It would be a place that you could come to and relax on a Saturday afternoon. Grab a cup of coffee and a good book and waste a rainy evening sitting snug in an oversized beanbag chair.
Beyond that you will see a stage where local bands can showcase their talents. (I also imagine the stage being used for book readings, poetry slams, and small plays.) And around it would be a spacious dance floor.
If when you first came in you had walked to your right, you would find the dining room. I would like for the style to be tasteful and somewhat classy, but I don't want it to frighten away the everyday folks. So there would probably be tables and booths, because I think booths create a more comfortable atmosphere.
The prices would be slightly more expensive than a trip to Mc Donald's, but not as costly as an upscale restaurant. (Imagine Panera Bread for price.)
There would be two separate menus, (one vegan, and one vegetarian).
Also, (and I think I would be the first to do this), I would like to create a book and make it available to any customer who is concerned, that lists the every ingredient that goes into our meals. I know that vegans have a very strict diet that they abide by, and I want to assure them that I have prepared their meals around their very specific interests.
I would also make a "cereal bar" available. (I saw the movie FLAKES recently, and I love the idea!)
There would be free WiFi available for paying customers, and I also thought of creating a sound proof room for local college students to utilize for studying.
The restaurant could host a number of fun activities to keep the community active and creative. A few examples could be:
family nights-
once a month we could show a guy friendly movie on an overhead
projector screen.
Fright nights-
Once a month we could show a corn syrupy massacre on an overhead projector screen =) I love a good horror flick
Beginner’s yoga classes
Writing classes/sessions
Still life drawing sessions
Karaoke nights of course
We could host themed dances
Book signings
Wine tasting
Student film screenings
Clothing swaps-
Trade in your gently used threads for some new style
An art gallery-
One weekend a month we could turn the dance floor/bookstore portion into a gallery where local artists can display their art.
Holiday parties
Game nights-
We could host teen lock-ins they could | I have opened many restaurants. Here are some things to really think about. I answered for someone else once, my thought, depends on your aread, vege only is really limiting your base.
What kind of experience do you have?
What will your menu look like?
What do you think your food cost will be?
How will you train your staff?
Where will you hire them from?
Where is the stores location?
What if the traffic like in that area?
What will the equipment package cost?
What willl your intial inventory cost?
What level of operating captial will you need?
What vendors will you purchase your supplies from?
What will be their payment terms?
What is your marketing plan?
Will you take credit cards?
Who will process those transactions and what are the associated cost?
Where are your proforma income and expense statements?
What will be your average check?
What are you projecting as your customer count?
What type of contigency plan will you have if your average check and customer count are not met?
Who will get certified as a sanatarian so you are in compliance with health department?
Have you thought about the insurances you need? ie customer falls, get sick, store burns down?
What will you sinage package look like?
What will be the hours of operation?
What systems will you use to control labor cost?
What systems will you use to control food cost?
What will be your breakeven sales cost?
Who will fix your equipment?
Now, i have not gotten into if you can cook or train people to cook, or if you know anything about even operating a restaurant. There is a lot to think of and this is no where near complete. now you see why so many fail - people failed to plan. my advice, go work in one at every station, manage one - learn from someone who has done it, copy the good toss the bad. I hope this helps, sorry i did not spell check | English speakers, could you check this short translation? It’s urgent, please? Hi friends! I’m from Spain.
I wrote a response to my British friends (two teen boys from Oxford, UK). They make hilarious videos on YouTube.
As you know, the automatic translators are useful but never as good as the advice of a native speaker. I respect your language enough that maybe you could copy and paste this message and help me correct my grammar and style mistakes. Please make it sound more grammatical and fluent.
Thank you.
"You're saying "religion"… Is religion not an attempt at ideological homogenization? And doesn't any ideological homogenization imply the loss of individual freedom, on some scale?
Anyway, you win! My analogy was wrong. Perhaps I came over too strong, but believe me, that wasn't my intention. Please don't think that I'm against these groups; I try not to be judgmental in my world view. I love people. Please don't picture me as a grumpy old man who believes that youth is lost - this would horrify me! I guess my example was a bit dramatic, so let's forget it.
I'm not suggesting that belonging to a group is bad. Most of us identify with some form of group. But that's entirely different to someone adopting the pre-designed Identity of a group.
Of course, I'm not against emos, punks, goths, or anything of the sort. Over here we have a similar group called "floggers". Believe me, I have friends who belong to these groups and I love them a lot. Perhaps you do too. I just think that they chose to identify with these groups because they don't feel free.
If I asked you to draw me a picture, you would probably take a pencil and come up with your own creation. You wouldn't go to a gallery of images, choose the picture that most resembles the one you have in mind and give me such a picture as if it were their own. (Surely, you can understand that concept).
However, I'm not saying anything against them. Many of them are very sensitive people that feel pressured by society and choose to be slaves themselves.
Ok, this might be a slightly dramatic concept. But members of a religion are slaves to some extent. Is a slave anyone who belongs to a group and must give up some (or maybe all) of his freedoms?
In religion you are not free to make decisions (inside this religion), and something similar happens with these groups. There is an emo prototype, for example. You should give up some of your freedoms to conform to that prototype. The more freedom you give up, the more you are going to fit with that ideal. So, in this way, we see increasingly homogeneous groups, that are not only similar in behaviour, dress, music and more but, above all, all conform to a unidimensional model of thought.
Without getting into philosophy, the basis of this thinking is the enthymeme. Basically, it implies a form of domination. It is a kind of thinking in which people believe that they think by themselves, believe they make decisions by themselves, and think they are rebels, when in fact they're nothing more than an homogeneous product, created and nurtured by the same culture against which they rebel.
At this homogenization I was a little over the top when I said 'assembly-line objects'. This was harsh, and please forgive me. I promise, I'm not a bad person- it's only my opinion!
I should hold back a little next time with my compliments and... ah, what the hell! I love you as if you were my son, despite the fact that I’m only nine years older than you and too young to be your father!
I just want you to feel fine. Thanks for your reply; it's always a pleasure talking with you!" | | I don't know why you posted a question such as this. Your english is amazing! Keep it up! | Is this considered guy pornography? young-ferrari.deviantart.com/
Look through her gallery.
Okay, I know it's none of my buisness, it's a free country yadda yadda. But I'm worried 'bout this girl. She doesn't show her age, just states that she is a teen(you can even tell she looks young).
